Shift Network Summer of Peace Summit @ Shift Network Website
Jul 13 – Sep 21 all-day

SOP-300.250

Join 75+ of the world’s top peacebuilders, social change agents, Indigenous elders, political leaders, scientists and spiritual mentors – all offering inspiration, skills training and practical solutions YOU can apply in your daily life, relationships, community and the world.

With a steady stream of news about unspeakable violence in war-torn areas to escalating reports of police brutality, we are reminded of the need to strengthen our capacity for outer and inner peace. It’s clear that it’s time we create a new story about peace.

We need a narrative that speaks to the human complexity of the inner spirit, to international relations, to dialogues across multiple sectors of society – including healing humanity’s relationship with the Earth. We need an understanding of peace broad enough to embrace the deep spiritual realms, along with the grounded – and at times even hard-nosed – practical actions that can transform difficult situations locally and globally.

However, for all of us who long for more peace and harmony in our lives and our world, some days, the challenges we face can feel daunting.

In these times, it’s common to feel overwhelmed by the inner conflicts within ourselves – not to mention the pain generated by clashes with family members, friends, co-workers… and even strangers. And when we hear about bullying in schools, the senseless violence in our neighborhoods and the overwhelming number of refugees displaced from war, it’s so easy to feel helpless and fall into despair.

It can be difficult to know where to turn to find the inspiration and guidance we need to heal the conflicts in our own hearts, in our relationships and in our larger world.

This is where The Summer of Peace comes in. The Shift Network has a deep commitment to global peace, which is why we’re offering this amazing series to you for FREE.

This monumental 3-month event features powerful insights and practical skillsfrom the world’s leading peacebuilders – so you’ll be empowered to co-create a life and a world where peace – instead of conflict – is the baseline.

Through The Summer of Peace, you’ll:

  • Discover more personal ease, joy and well-being with practices to help youconnect more profoundly to the deep peace within yourself.
  • Experience more harmonious and loving relationships with your family, friends, co-workers and community members.
  • Be uplifted when you hear success stories from those on the front-lines of creating positive change in the most desperate areas on the planet.
  • Receive deep wisdom for co-creating a new narrative of peace, and find effective methods for putting this vision into inspired action.
  • Discover best practices for citizen engagement and conscious activismto help accelerate the shift to a world of peace!

As part of The Shift Network’s commitment to peace, we have also created the first virtual World Peace Library. The 2015 Summer of Peace programs will eventually become part of this FREE global resource.

Urban Campfire – Seattle – Courageous Compassion for Self & Others Revealed! @ Hotel Max
Aug 16 @ 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm

This Year’s Campfire is BIGGER Than Ever
Urban Campfire is a unique and intimate gathering of women, where vulnerability, failure, tears, and laughter are celebrated.

It is our mission is to acquaint you with all the fiery, CRAVEtastic, adventurous, and beautiful parts of who you are. You have to know yourself before you can grow yourself, and at this year’s fire we are going to be doing both.

Take your seat, share your story with other like-minded women, and fill your connection craving over food, wine, and (of course) marshmallows. It is a ‘campfire’ after all.

This year, we’ve asked female thought-leaders and entrepreneurs from all over the country to share a story about a moment in their life when everything changed in a big way. In a TED style talk, they will be sharing these breakthrough stories, plus the most resonant advice they’ve received in their lives so far.

Five hundred women attended the very first Urban Campfire two years ago, and we feel sincerely grateful to the tight-nit and continuously expanding community that has grown out of that formative night.

Love Is a Secret: The Mystic Quest for Divine Love
By Dr. Andrew Vidich

“Over the last 5000 years, inspired leaders and giants of all the great spiritual traditions have produced a rich collection of writings describing the transcendent states of love they have experienced. This book draws on all the great wisdom traditions from Taoism to Christianity, from Islam to Judaism, to describe the psychology of humankind’s deepest spiritual encounters.

“It identifies 10 distinct psychological states common to all spiritual experience. A study of the specific characteristics of each state reveals that mystics from widely different theologies, times and cultures have experienced God’s love in remarkably similar ways. Their words show us what intimate encounters with “The Great Beloved” feel like, and how we can cultivate and achieve these mystical states in our own lives.

“The compassionate wisdom in the pages of this book is a moving testament to the universal majesty, variety and splendor of the experience of God’s unconditional love. This is a book which seekers and students will enjoy for its insight as well as its message of hope: that Divine Love is available to all who seek it with humility and grace, and those who in its radiance are not only transfigured, but empowered to change the world.”

”This book eloquently describes the real life-work of every mature human being in every great culture of humanity.”  Shaikh Nur al-Jerrrahi USA Leader of al Jerrahi Sufi Order.

American Legion Post #160/West Seattle Veterans Center Support Project @ Hide Map West Seattle American Legion
Aug 25 @ 8:28 am – 9:28 am

The Mission:

To cleanup, build, paint, and landscape at your West Seattle Veterans Center which is home to American Legion Post #160.

The Why:

Legion volunteers have struggled for a few years to finish this remodel. With a generous donation from the West Seattle YMCA, Post #160 needs your help to finish the basement and paint the exterior for its 2nd Phase to be complete. 3rd Phase will be tackling the west wing of the building and turning it into an office space were veteran non-profits can set up shop and improve the lives of veterans, their families and the City of Seattle.

We need you to help make this happen. Come to work, meet new people and make a difference. It’s time to Report for Duty in your community!
