Inauguration of the new ‘Cité du Vin’ (wine centre) by the President of France, which will be the scene of a die-in demonstration – a lie-in with a slight difference – in protest at the excessive use of pesticides on the vines in the Bordeaux region. This is one of the worst affected areas of France in terms of pesticide pollution. It’s to raise awareness of the issue in the lead-up to the EU debate and decision on the use of glyphosates on June 6th.
This initiative, backed by several environmental and health groups, is a petition to raise at least a million signatures before the end of 2017, to influence the EU’s decision on whether or not to ban glyphosate completely. The extension has been temporarily halted and the aim is to have it banned altogether – by making the decision makers listen to the people!
The time is upon us and on Monday morning we will be performing this artistic ritual with 150 dancers from all over the globe as an example of what can be if we all work together for one peaceful collaborative world. Our human mandala of peace will send up a cry to the heavens, to the universe. and to the world that there is a better way and we are taking proactive steps to create a world of peaceful coexistence for all. Please join us live online and add your vibrations of peace and good will as we meditate and reach out together during this half hour sacred offering. A cry for Peace.
We will meet online daily for #11DaysOfGlobalUnity To begin the day with a mantra and hear about the speaker for the day.

In celebration of the upcoming International Day of Peace, September 21st, we are hosting Greg Reitman’s ROOTED in PEACE – a globally transformative, socially-conscious, environmentally-based film. Reitman’s journey of self-analysis resonates with audiences seeking inner peace in a world full of people dominated by war, affected by global warming or haunted by inner conflict. The film follows him as he speaks to thought leaders around the world having conversations around sustainable development, discussing the challenges of our never-ending wars, and facing the realities of uncertainty placed on the world’s institutions by our current political climate. Reitman’s introspective and socially relevant documentary was most recently screened at the United Nations.
From the US to Costa Rica to India, award-winning filmmaker and environmental activist Greg Reitman traveled to visit such luminaries and activists as Deepak Chopra, music legends Donovan, Mike Love and Pete Seeger, film director David Lynch, Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire, Ted Turner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and many others. Their common ideas and examples make ROOTED in PEACE an unexpectedly inspirational viewing experience magnified by a stellar soundtrack opening with Pink Floyd’s ‘Time’ and closing with John Lennon’s ‘Love.’

Panel discussion on theme: ” Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All”
Aim to link this with the SDGs and propose actions which can be taken locally to achieve SDGs.
Audience input encouraged
We are so honored to have been invited to co-produce PEACE IN THE PARK, a free event put on by the Brahma Kumaris in the Music Concourse (bandshell) on 9/23 from 11-6. The event is tied in with U.N. International Day of Peace (which is 9/21, with many events on the same Saturday as ours), and will also participate in the Earthdance Prayer for Peace. I am running the Talk Tent, am curating the speakers, and will emcee throughout the day, and – if I can save myself a time slot – will READ A PASSAGE from my upcoming book The Secret Power of LOVE! And if that weren’t enough, my NEW band S.O.U.L. Twin Messiah will be HEADLINING this event for our DEBUT gig!! We will be playing all new, original songs for YOU! Plus, we will lead a singalong to finish the day, and it will almost-for-sure be Imagine by John Lennon. Our timeslot is 5:30pm in the Bandshell. Wow! What a debut!!
I really hope that YOU can make it to this very special event,

SCIENCE MARCHES ON
In 2017, more than one million people around the world gathered together in the largest event for science advocacy in history. On April 22, 2018, March for Science Denmark unites again to hold our elected and appointed officials responsible for enacting equitable evidence-based policies that serve all communities and science for the common good.
IT’S TIME WE HELD OUR POLITICAL LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR SUPPORTING GOOD SCIENCE POLICY. IT’S TIME WE JOIN TOGETHER AND DEMAND THAT OUR LEADERS USE SCIENCE TO INFORM THEIR WORK AND CAST THEIR VOTES FOR SCIENCE.
We are scientists, science enthusiasts and concerned people of planet Earth. We come from all cultures, all religions, all gender identities, all sexual orientations, all abilities, all socioeconomic backgrounds, all political perspectives, and all nationalities. Our diversity is our greatest strength; a wealth of opinions, perspectives, and ideas is critical for the scientific process and social progress. What unites us is a love of science, reason and an insatiable curiosity for knowledge. We recognize that science is everywhere and affects everyone on the globe.
Science protects the health of our communities, the safety of our families, the education of our children, the foundation of our economy and jobs, and the future we all want to live in and preserve for coming generations.
International Children’s Month is a full year long, free, thematic, activity platform for all. The mission is “Children across the planet in love, care and respect.” Our peak month is JUNE and we ask all involved with children to take it up a notch or twenty and do something special for this month with them. Support the children in doing what they feel called to do. Support the children in what you feel called to do. This month is about celebration and joy of our children, and of appreciation. Please visit the SEL partner platform for all at www.internationalchildrensmonth.com
This is a Facebook Live event with registration required. Go to bit.ly/DPIpeacedaychat
There will be a panel of 4 speakers followed by audience participation addressing the topic: Making the International Day of Peace Matter in Your City. This event will also mark the 100 Day countdown to the International Day of Peace on Sept 21!
At the time of the event, see https://www.facebook.com/UNDPINGO
We come together for the Annual Children’s Global Wave Of Love, at 1:11pm in every time zone beginning in New Zealand and ending in Hawaii, we come together to collectively intention “Children across the planet in love, care and respect.” Based on the Fibinacci sequence of increasing increments of divine love we send out love across the waters and lands for all. A peak day for International Children’s Month and our free year long thematic activity platform International Children Love Self Love and Cooperation 2018.
Connect for Peace is a public street happening for peace in honor of the International Day of Peace. We invite participants and passersby to connect with one another in a spirit of openness, spontaneity, and childlike innocence. A cross between performance art and a peace rally, these powerful events have touched the lives of people from around the globe.
We take a moment to connect for peace. We take a moment to really see the person in front of us. We say, “I see you” and are genuinely seen in return. The bungee cords physicalize the invisible connections between all people. As we realize how interconnected we are, peace is a natural outcome.
Amazing things happen at every Connect for Peace event. It touches something deep. Passersby stop to share intimate details of their lives. Strangers are moved to extraordinary acts of kindness. The premise is simple but the results are incredibly powerful.

As we mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., we will march in the spirit of the prophetic declaration he made the night before he was killed: “The choice is no longer violence or nonviolence; it’s nonviolence or non-existence.” In this moment of truth, we will call on the nation to choose a culture of nonviolence free from war, poverty, racism, and environmental destruction.
Now is the moment of truth for taking action – and for recommitting to the power of truth itself, in light of the many false or misleading statements made by the administration. On September 22, we will take action for peace, economic equality, racial justice and environmental healing – and for a new spirit of truth and nonviolence.
Speakers will include Lisa Sharon Harper, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Jr, Kit Evans-Ford, Rev. Ray East, George Martin, Shane Claiborne, and Rev. John Dear.
Join us in Washington at this critical moment of truth.

From Peace Accelerators Description: It is our dream (and hopefully it will become your dream as well) that over the next decade we begin to celebrate the International Day of Peace (September 21st) more and more each year, until over time it becomes the first holiday that the entire world celebrates.
It is not religious and it is not about any made-up country — it is about all of us seeing the commonality between each other, realizing we’re on one Earth (and in many ways this place needs us to adapt to her quite quickly at this crucial point in history).
This Thursday we are holding a large beautiful inspiring event for the International Day of Peace. There will be community leaders, speakers, musicians, meditation, yoga, dj’s and much more.
This will be one evening you will not want to miss.
It will be the largest celebration for the International Day of Peace in NYC, the heartbeat city of our one planet.
Let’s show the world what we want.
Raising Consciousness is the Path to Peace! Yoga is one life path to peace. Yoga is described as a Union of Mind, Body, Spirit..
Yoga Cosmic Breath brings in the Heart.
This Ancient practice is part energy tool/part meditation/ part pranayama. It is a link to Higher Love and Higher Consciousness.
Each night is a new experience, however the foundation follows this sequence
Rhythmic Breathing, Reiki, Neck and Shoulder Stretches, Closing with the main event the Yoga Cosmic ‘Love’ Breath
Humanity has done the work to raise the vibration enough to be able to be emass as a container and anchor of this energy to the new earth.
This practice was offered first for the month of Sept in 2009 and now again in 2018
To serve others as a way to the higher heart resonance, which elevates us into different dimensions and Cosmic Consciousness.
Research has shown that the magnetic field of the heart is 5,000 times more powerful than the mind.
The way to living in the higher dimensions is through the heart portal which leads to unconditional love and a greater connection to the Divine, to yourself, to others and to nature.
The Cosmos ARE are here to help humanity.
It’s about a being in alignment with a cosmic heart connection of a different heartbeat, a heartbeat attuned to Cosmic Love through activations and being in rhythm with the Universe.
WE are stronger together is true!
How do you make an impact when you are working alone? Sloooowly.
Let us quicken as One.
It is a simple solution, we have done the heavy lifting, now we are in the labor pains and a smart mother- to-Be will learn how to breathe to ease the pain.
It only makes sense to do this as well, while we are in this process of birthing a new earth, does it not?
Our work now only requires us to BREATHE in a new way, and connect to our hearts.
This is about something greater than ourselves!
To Be, Midwives for the New Earth whether you are a woman or a man.
You will discover the more of us that do the inner work consistently, of raising our vibration and releasing density, we will be pulled towards the 5th World.
This is not a might be, this is a pathway.
I’m here to be a wayshower and a bridge.
This will fill the body with cosmic energy, assisting you to hold more light and love and to be the anchor And container.
Blessings,
Margarit

HONOR NATIVE LAND:
A GUIDE AND CALL TO ACKNOWLEDGMENT
IN COUNTRIES SUCH AS NEW ZEALAND, AUSTRALIA, CANADA, AND AMONG TRIBAL NATIONS IN THE U.S., it is commonplace, even policy, to open events and gatherings by acknowledging the traditional Indigenous inhabitants of that land. While some individuals and cultural and educational institutions in the United States have adopted this custom, the vast majority have not. Together, we can spark a movement to change that.
We call on all individuals and organizations to open public events and gatherings with acknowledgment of the traditional Native inhabitants of the land.
Acknowledgment is a simple, powerful way of showing respect and a step toward correcting the stories and practices that erase Indigenous people’s history and culture and toward inviting and honoring the truth. Imagine this practice widely adopted: imagine cultural venues, classrooms, conference settings, places of worship, sports stadiums, and town halls, acknowledging traditional lands. Millions would be exposed—many for the first time—to the names of the traditional Indigenous inhabitants of the lands they are on, inspiring them to ongoing awareness and action.
For more than five hundred years, Native communities across the Americas have demonstrated resilience and resistance in the face of violent efforts to separate them from their land, culture, and each other. They remain at the forefront of movements to protect Mother Earth and the life it sustains. Today, corporate greed and federal policy push agendas to extract wealth from the earth, degrading sacred land in blatant disregard of treaty rights. Acknowledgment is a critical public intervention, a necessary step toward honoring Native communities and enacting the much larger project of decolonization and reconciliation. Join us in adopting, calling for, and spreading this practice.
Download the Guide: Created in partnership with Native allies and organizations, the Guide offers context about the practice of acknowledgment, gives step-by-step instructions for how to begin wherever you are, and provides tips for moving beyond acknowledgment into action.
Download the #HonorNativeLand Guide
Fill out the form to download the guide
WHY INTRODUCE THE PRACTICE OF LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT?
- Offer recognition and respect.
- Counter the “doctrine of discovery” with the true story of the people who were already here.
- Create a broader public awareness of the history that has led to this moment.
- Begin to repair relationships with Native communities and with the land.
- Support larger truth-telling and reconciliation efforts.
- Remind people that colonization an ongoing process, with Native lands still occupied due to deceptive and broken treaties.
- Take a cue from Indigenous protocol, opening up space with reverence and respect.
- Inspire ongoing action and relationship.
Acknowledgment by itself is a small gesture. It becomes meaningful when coupled with authentic relationship and informed action. But this beginning can be an opening to greater public consciousness of Native sovereignty and cultural rights, a step toward equitable relationship and reconciliation.

The Nature of Unity
Unity is a religious movement that began over a century ago. In the 1880’s Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, co-founders of Unity, began to work with some new ideas that they had found about life. Charles had a withered leg; Myrtle had tuberculosis. But in a short time, Myrtle was healed and Charles’ health was so much improved that other people, seeing the changes in them, were drawn to them to find out how they, too, could change.
The Fillmores had no thought of starting a new religion; they just wanted to help themselves and others who turned to them for help. In 1889 they began to publish a little magazine called Modern Thought, which a few years later they renamed Unity. In this magazine, they presented the ideas that had helped them heal themselves and find peace and strength. These ideas are simple. They are centered around two basic propositions:
One ~ God is Good.
Two ~ God is available, in fact, God is in you.
If God is good, God’s will is good. It is impossible to believe that a good God — a God who is love and intelligence — could have made you in any other way except to be healthy, happy, prosperous, loved and loving, courageous and strong. If you are not healthy and happy, it can only be because you have separated yourself from God in mind — the only place you can separate yourself from God and God’s good. You have only to reunite in mind with God, and your life is certain to be full and fulfilling. You do this best by getting still and realizing your oneness with God. Every thought, negative or positive, comes one at time to the door of your conscious mind; there you let it in or turn it away. To have a good life, you have to learn to say no to the negative thoughts which deny your oneness with god’s good and say yes to the positive thoughts which affirm your oneness with God’s good.
Perhaps this is an oversimplification of Unity teachings, but these are the essential elements.
Unity is not a proselytizing religion. We are happy to have you call yourself a Unity student and join a Unity group. But we are also happy when we can help you be a better Methodist, a better Catholic, a better whatever you are.
Unity began as an open-ended religion, and we pray it always will be. May we always be seekers after Truth rather than people who feel that they have found all the Truth and must form an exclusive little circle to preserve it.
Unity is the religion of the written word, and Unity School of Christianity is the organization that has carried that written word around the world. Unity has grown almost entirely because individuals who have been helped by its ideas have told others who need help about it. Unity has always been a warm and loving way of life, sensitive to people’s needs, God-centered but human-hearted. This is Unity.

Every two minutes a woman dies from complications in pregnancy or childbirth, and millions around the world are denied the choice of if and when they want to have children.
UNFPA Supplies supports over 20 million women and girls worldwide with family planning services, contraception, and vital maternal medicines, and since 2007 they have saved over 1.1 millions lives.
Without additional support, their vital work — and the safety of over 20 million women and girls — will be at risk. Call on world leaders to step up for women and girls by pledging new funds this year.
Thank you so much,
Annabelle Roberts

THINK KINDNESS, WE CHARITY, COUNT ME IN CHAMPION KINDNESS WORLD WIDE
There’s a growing crisis among young people today. One-in-five students report being bullied, cyberbullying is on the rise, and teen suicide is at a record high. As these problems continue to worsen, many adults may be left scratching their heads. How do we stop this crisis and help our youth?
There are a lot of possible answers, but there’s one that I’d like to pose today that I think is too often overlooked: kindness.
Yes, the simple act of kindness – not just witnessing it, but participating in it – has the ability to change people’s lives for the better. To make our world safer and happier for our children, we need to be teaching them how to be kind at home, at school, and in their communities.
This may seem overly simple, but science backs it up. According to research from places like Harvard and UC Berkeley, among others, acts of kindness release chemicals in the brain, such as serotonin and oxytocin, which reduce depression and anger and boost overall happiness.
Being kind isn’t something we should just mention to our kids in passing – it should be an integral part of their daily activities.
As the founder of Think Kindness, I am blessed to have an incredible job. I go into schools all across the country and help kids tap into their inner kindness potential. In my ten years here, I’ve seen some amazing results. For instance, after my very first speech, a student who struggled with suicidal thoughts wrote me to tell me how getting involved in helping others radically changed his life for the better.
Luckily, Think Kindness isn’t the only organization that makes kindness its mission.
There’s a group called Count Me In, founded and led by youth, which helps to connect young people with volunteer opportunities in their communities and around the world. To date, the organization has inspired over 100 million volunteer hours. In addition, Count Me In has an annual leadership summit which serves as a bootcamp training kids how to be volunteers and do good in the world. I am also blessed to sit on the advisory board for such a powerful and meaningful organization.
Similarly, there’s an organization in Canada called the WE Charity which does incredible work to connect kids to acts of kindness. For instance, WE offers volunteer trips to impoverished communities around the world, giving young people a powerful chance to make a real difference for people in need.
They also host what they call We Days, which draw hundreds of thousands of children into stadiums across the world to hear nspirational messages about doing good around the world.
Organizations like these and others are essential to turning the tide of anger, depression, and sadness among our youth today.
But they need backup, because according to one study, youth volunteering has gone down over the last fifteen years. All of us – parents, teachers, community leaders – need to promote kindness to young people.
We can do it in two ways: first and foremost, by showing kindness ourselves; second, by connecting our kids to groups which can give them the tools they need to be conduits of kindness everywhere they go.
Let’s get to it – it just might change the world.
With Kindness,
Brian Williams

Grateful for all you do to support the brave young people in this movement.
Thank you for rising with us,

IF YOU’RE A LEGISLATOR AND READY TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT, GO HERE.
While we wait for the decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, we must call on Members of Congress to publicly support Juliana v. United States and the constitutional rights of young people to life, liberty, and property free from government endangerment. We have been calling on the judicial branch to help hold the executive branch of our federal government accountable for its role in causing the climate crisis, and we need the legislative branch to step up as well.
Let’s make this happen.

From Bill McKibben:
Dear Friends,
“Last week I ended up in jail for a little while, because I’d sat down in a Congress member’s office to protest the deadly confluence of climate and immigration policy. You can read about my day in the New Yorker1 story shared on the bottom of this email, but my point in sharing it with you is not to say that I acted nobly or that it was a big deal.
Instead, my point is simply that sometimes you have to act even if you’re not entirely sure what the effect will be. We’re coming up on the next great moment in the climate movement, the global all-ages climate strike on Sept. 20. Years of sustained resistance from Standing Rock to the school strikes and beyond, particularly from youth of color, have led us to this moment. So let’s make the most of it.
Whatever you do that day — whether you walk out of work or school, close down your business, or join a protest, it will help build the groundswell that is now clearly rising.
When you strike, you’ll be striking for justice above all — it’s one thing you can do on behalf of those who are incarcerated at the border, or who are living so close to the margin that taking a day off is not possible. If you have some flexibility in your life, it’s time to put it to work. If you don’t, sign up anyway, we’ll find other ways for you to participate and show your support.
The UN’s best guess is that unchecked climate change could produce a billion climate refugees this century. Think about that for a moment — a billion people whose lives would be utterly, permanently, devastatingly upended. Then think about whether you can take a day to do something real about it, even without knowing exactly what change it will produce.
Together we build movements, and when those movements get big enough they change history. You change history. Thank you for being a big part of it –
Let’s make change, “
Bill McKibben

ABOUT
We, as a global society, are at a crossroads. We have a decision to make. Are we going to choose money or power or are we going to choose the future? The September 20 strike is an invitation to everyone to choose us. Choose the kids, choose humanity, choose the future.
Led by a diverse coalition of youth-led and adult-led organizations,
September 20 is an intergenerational day of striking
that will launch an entire week of climate action across the world.
September 20 is only the beginning. We must carry this energy to the 2020 elections, and beyond to ensure real, bold action is taken to address the climate crises. This is history in the making, and it’s time we take back the narrative to save our futures.
The demands set forth by the youth coalition will be released soon.

Connections between peace, climate protection, SDGs and disarmament
UN Charter (Article 26) recognises the connection between disarmament and sustainable development. Article 26 requires the UN to facilitate disarmament ‘in order to promote the establishment and maintenance of international peace and security with the least diversion for armaments of the world’s human and economic resources.’
More recently the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes that there can be no sustainable development without peace, and no peace without sustainable development. In addition, Securing our Common Future: An Agenda for Disarmament, the disarmament agenda released in 2018 by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, outlines the links between disarmament and many of the SDGs.

Climate Action Summit 2019
The Secretary-General will convene a Climate Action Summit in September 2019 to bring climate action to the top of the international agenda. Mr. Luis Alfonso de Alba, a former Mexican diplomat, will be his Special Envoy to lead its preparations.
The Summit will focus on the heart of the problem – the sectors that create the most emissions and the areas where building resilience could make the biggest difference – as well as provide leaders and partners the opportunity to demonstrate real climate action and showcase their ambition.

In order to actualize real, lasting reforms to our juvenile justice system
on a national level,
we need your help making a difference on the local and state level.
Governors, state legislators, county commissioners, district attorneys, and mayors all make decisions that shape communities, including what investments our tax dollars fund. Down-ballot candidates for these policy-making positions have the ability to shift resources away from youth incarceration and into community alternatives for our young people.
It’s critical that we build relationshipswith candidates throughout their campaignsto ensure that any person running for officeknows that youth justiceis a priority in your community. They need to hear from you and other voicesin the community who care about youth justicefrom now through Election Day and beyond. We’ve updated our Electoral Toolkit for 2019 to provide you with updated resources, including social media graphics, to mobilize your community to engage local candidates in an effort to end youth incarceration and direct resources to community alternatives. Those seeking political power in local and state elected positions must understand the issues facing youth involved in the juvenile justice system, talk about their positions publicly, and stand ready towork with young people and families if elected.Your participation helps educate candidates about youth incarceration and what is at stake, so that we can create local systems that promote safer communities and a more just system for our children. Candidates also need to know that we are an engaged community that will hold them accountable through our vote and our activism, even once they’re in office, through activities such as voter registration drives, community events, and forums. Please join our movement by downloading our toolkit to learn what you can do in your community and share this with all your friends and colleagues in your own network. You can also share this toolkit on your social media pages using the graphics here.We look forward to joining together with you in this fight.Thank you,The Youth First Team___________________________________________________________________ YOUR TOOLKITTAKE ACTION : LOOK AT THIS PDFYou can take action now to educate your lawmakers on why incarcerating youth doesn’t work! Take action now by joining a campaign in your community! Don’t see a campaign in your state? Consider starting your own campaign. CONNECTICUTIn 2015, Governor Malloy announced plans to close to close the Connecticut Juvenile Training School (CJTS). The Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance (CTJJA) is spearheading advocacy efforts to ensure that the state replaces CJTS with a comprehensive continuum of mostly community-based programs for youth and their families. KANSASProgeny protects youths’ voice and advocates for Kansas youth touched by the juvenile justice system. Progeny strives to progress, develop and build the future expectations of the youth in our community. Progeny successfully advocated for the restoration of funding for alternatives to incarceration for youth. MAINEMaine Youth Justice is a nonpartisan campaign to end youth incarceration in Maine and invest in a range of community-based alternatives that respond to young people’s needs, support families, and build community in support of community alternatives to youth incarceration. NEW JERSEY150 Years is Enough seeks to transform New Jersey’s youth incarceration system into a community-based system of care by closing two of New Jersey’s three youth prisons, the New Jersey Training School for Boys (“Jamesburg”) and the Female Secure Care and Intake Facility (“Hayes.”) VIRGINIARISE (Re-invest in Supportive Environments) for Youth is a nonpartisan campaign of youth, families, and community organizations that successfully advocated for re-investment of funding from the closure of youth prisons in Virginia into community-based programs and placements for youth. The campaign is urging the state to continue to expand effective community treatment rather than build new prisons. |

Join Women’s March, Demand Justice, Center for Popular Democracy and partners on October 6th in DC for a mobilization on the anniversary of Kavanaugh’s sham confirmation to make sure Congress knows that we are still watching and demand they investigate Kavanaugh. A thorough vetting of him and his record is more important now than ever.
We must know whether Kavanaugh lied to the Senate, whether he sexually assaulted the women who credibly accused him of doing so, and whether he is ultimately fit to be a justice on the Supreme Court.
Brett Kavanaugh will roll back rights that women have worked for generations to secure. We won’t wait around for that to happen, we’re fighting back now.
See you in DC.

Join us to march against violence in America!
We will meet in front of Cobo Hall (1 Washington Blvd. Detroit, MI 48226) at 11 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2019, and we will walk together towards the Spirit of Detroit Plaza to rally alongside politicians and leaders who want to make a change.
This march will be a symbol to reflect on the nonviolence movement conducted by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. to protest for peace and freedom. Violence has been the curse of America, and the MLK-Gandhi March for Nonviolence intends to bring the lessons taught to us by Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. into the 21st century.

Every day, Americans throw away tons of plastic “stuff.” But it doesn’t actually go away. Instead, it washes into our waterways, where it harms our wildlife and pollutes our oceans, rivers, and lakes.
The Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act is the first comprehensive federal plan to protect public health, wildlife, and wild places from the plastic waste. It’s the kind of groundbreaking legislation we need to manage our plastic pollution crisis and put wildlife over waste.
Join us for the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act bill launch
to show your support for stopping plastic pollution.
– What: Bill Launch for the Break Free from Plastics Pollution Act
– When: Tuesday, Feb. 11, 11am (Speakers start at 11:30am)
– Where: U.S. Capitol East Front (House side)
-Speakers (list developing): Sen. Tom Udall & Rep. Alan Lowenthal

The Intersection of the Climate Crisis and Social Justice
Join the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival and The Climate Reality Project for our upcoming webinar highlighting the intersection of climate and environmental justice, the history of the #PoorPeoplesCampaign, and the upcoming digital mass march and assembly.
The webinar will feature Campaign Co-Chairs Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II and Dr. Liz Theoharis, as well as Dr. Robert Bullard, Climate Reality board member, Texas Southern University distinguished professor of environmental policy, and to many, the “father of environmental justice.”
The only way to solve the climate crisis is by working together. And to build a winning coalition, we need to understand how this crisis intersects with social inequities like racial discrimination, poverty, and environmental injustice.

ADDISON, Texas — From small-town Oklahoma native to internationally acclaimed actor and musician, Wes Studi forever changed a stereotype with his unforgettable performances in Dances with Wolves, The Last of the Mohicans, Heat and Avatar.
Now, he’s working on another mission.
Yesterday, the Cherokee citizen and legendary film star released a public service announcement (PSA) to raise awareness of the serious effects of COVID-19 in Indian Country and request widespread support for Partnership With Native Americans (PWNA) to ensure Native Americans are not left behind during the pandemic.
What sparked the PSA is a series of vital health issues happening in the wake of COVID-19, even with many stay-at-home orders in place. The risk of contracting the virus is higher among Native Americans due to overcrowded housing and high rates of diabetes, kidney disease and asthma. And despite more than 7,100 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the Navajo Nation and other tribal communities, federal aid has been slow to arrive.
In his new PSA, the Oscar winner reminds the public of the need for immediate attention and charitable donations to PWNA, which has secured tribal clearances and follows CDC and tribal guidelines to continue delivering critical items, such as food, water, sanitizer and personal protective equipment (PPE).
For more information on the PSA, and to learn how to donate, visit NativePartnership.org/
“Every day, remote reservation communities face shortages of food, water and healthcare, and COVID-19 has magnified that reality,” said Joshua Arce, PWNA president and CEO. “Donations are critical now as we bring relief to under-resourced communities.”
Studi notes PWNA is a nonprofit he trusts. In 2019, they collaborated in a five-part Realities Video Series with Wes Studi that aimed to give an accurate portrayal of reservation life and dispels long-held myths that continue to impact Native communities.

We are thrilled about the opportunity to have 10 runners represent the HRCF in one of the world’s most notable races. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation improves the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people by working to increase understanding and encourage the adoption of LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices. We build support for LGBTQ people among families and friends, co-workers and employers, pastors and parishioners, doctors and teachers, neighbors, and the general public. HRC works to enhance the lived experiences of LGBTQ people and their families by changing hearts and minds across America and around the globe. For more information on our specific programs, visit www.hrc.org.
Completing an application does not guarantee a spot. The application will be live until Friday, March 13, 2020.
Our 10 runners are required to raise a minimum of $3,500 for the Human Rights Campaign Foundation–but should actively and enthusiastically work towards a goal of $5,000 or more!
