Global Love Day @ The Love Foundation
May 1 all-day

Global Love Day, held annually each May 1st since 2004, is the universal recognition of our innate oneness through love. It is our vision to unite one and all in a celebration of love and compassion. We honor each May 1st as a symbolic day of unconditional love and call upon all people and all nations to gather together in the wisdom of peace and love. Join people around the world in celebrating and expanding LOVE.

The tenets of Global Love Day best summarize our vision:
We are one humanity on this planet.
All life is interconnected and interdependent.
All share in the Universal bond of love.
Love begins with self-acceptance and forgiveness.
With respect and compassion we embrace diversity.
Together we make a difference through love.

When we come from this limitless love, we naturally and easily embrace ourselves and our fellow humanity. Opening our heart, we allow unconditional love to be our guide and compassion to be our gift to life.

We invite you to celebrate with us by consciously focusing on love and what it means to you throughout this day. We hope that by practicing love in all areas of your life, you will find it easy to love unconditionally all year long. Our main theme explains it best…”Love Begins With Me”

Peace In The Park @ Golden Gate Park Music Concourse
Sep 23 all-day

We are so honored to have been invited to co-produce PEACE IN THE PARK, a free event put on by the Brahma Kumaris in the Music Concourse (bandshell) on 9/23 from 11-6. The event is tied in with U.N. International Day of Peace (which is 9/21, with many events on the same Saturday as ours), and will also participate in the Earthdance Prayer for Peace. I am running the Talk Tent, am curating the speakers, and will emcee throughout the day, and – if I can save myself a time slot – will READ A PASSAGE from my upcoming book The Secret Power of LOVE! And if that weren’t enough, my NEW band S.O.U.L. Twin Messiah will be HEADLINING this event for our DEBUT gig!! We will be playing all new, original songs for YOU! Plus, we will lead a singalong to finish the day, and it will almost-for-sure be Imagine by John Lennon. Our timeslot is 5:30pm in the Bandshell. Wow! What a debut!!
I really hope that YOU can make it to this very special event,

Join others for 15 glorious minutes of Laughter Yoga on the phone as we celebrate 11 Days of Global Unity! Today, we culminate these 11 days as we mark the UN International Day of Peace. When Dr. Kataria, founder of Laughter Yoga, began spreading his vision of sharing intentional laughter, he recognized that Laughter is a universal language and since its founding in 1995, he has hoped others will share his vision of using shared intentional laughter to help the world find peace. I’m SURE I’ve enjoyed laughing with each and every person who has called in during the 11 Days of Global Unity. On this, our last call of this series, we will focus on Laughter Exercises that envision a more peaceful world. As always: no previous experience, no special clothes or equipment required. Global Indigenous Wisdom Summit @ online on Facebook

Join indigenous leaders from around the world for a day of Earth-based wisdom teachings, prayers, and music to support transformation, healing, and social change.

Indigenous Peoples Day – October 8, 2018 Live on Facebook

Powerful Indigenous voices from our beloved Mother Earth are coming together to share sacred knowledge with you… (scroll down for details)

There is no registration required to attend… just visit our Facebook page here on October 8 starting at 9am Pacific Time.

During this full-day Facebook Live gathering, you’ll:

  • Celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, October 8, 2018 LIVE with sisters and brothers all over the world
  • Receive stories and wisdom from Indigenous elders
  • Participate in reverent moments & an opening ceremony
  • Learn about prophecies regarding enormous change & heart-connected evolution
  • Discover how to take action for change!
  • View The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code — a compelling documentary film by Sheldon Wolfchild

And much more good healing for us all!

At the core of global restoration is the recognition that Indigenous peoples carry a way of being that is sustainable, harmonious, healthy, and just. Their ancient wisdom can guide us in healing our hearts, transforming our minds and creating truly loving, collaborative communities on our planet.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that on Indigenous Peoples DayMonday, October 8, 2018, The Shift Network is presenting a full-day Global Indigenous Wisdom Summit via Facebook Live!

This will be a profound spiritual gathering of Indigenous leaders from around the world sharing Earth-based wisdom teachings, prayers, and music to support transformation, healing, and social change, as well as concrete examples for birthing a new era — one in which all members of the human family are treated with respect, understanding, compassion and justice.

The day will be hosted by Indigenous speaker Shawna Bluestar (Shawnee, Lenape, Azteca), and will include keepers of wisdom from around the world, such as:

Grandmother SaSa (Swan of the North) is a seer, a dreamer and a universal healer. She founded The Rose and The Swan Healing Center for Healers, where she conducts teachings and the Medicine Hoop of Life ceremony twice a year.

Grandmother Flordemayo is a founding member of the Church of the Spiritual Path, the Confederation of Indigenous Elders of the America, Institute of Natural and Traditional Knowledge, International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, and recently founded The Path a 501(c)3 organization.

Woman Stands Shining (Pat McCabe) has the honor of being of the Diné (Navajo) Nation. A life-bringer, life-bearer mother, writer, artist, activist, speaker and cultural liason, her work is driven by the study of the Science of Right Relations. Moving from the central knowledge that we, the five-fingered-ones, are born into beauty, as beauty, for joyful life, she brings the understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing into discussion and inquiry on sustainability.

Dave Courchene , Nii Gaani Aki Innini (Leading Earth Man), has traveled internationally, carrying a message of hope and peace. Dave shares ancient Indigenous knowledge that he believes can act as the foundation in supporting the new life that Mother Earth is now entering, and that the elders have confirmed has arrived. He has created a special place for sharing ancient Indigenous knowledge — the Turtle Lodge — built based on a vision he received many years ago.

Grandmother Moetu-Taiha Ransfield is descendent of the Ngai Tuhoe and the Kahungunu tribes of Aotearoa New Zealand. Moetu is always connected to her land, her mountain, her river and her people because she is them. She carries her ancestors with her. After an experience with cancer, she was given a choice of whether to stay “here” or go to the ‘loved ones’. Grandmother Moetu chose to stay and made a commitment to be a channel for helping humanity. Her ‘calling’ is her life. She wants to find and build leaders, the ones who want to make a difference and be a force for good in the world.

Pura Fé is a Native singer-songwriter, seamstress, teacher and activist. She is also the founding member of the Internationally renowned Native American women’s a cappella trio, “Ulali”.

Ilarion (Kuuyux/Larry) Merculieff has over 40 years of serving his Unangan (Aleut) people and is a carrier of messages from Indigenous elders from around the world. He speaks all over the world, has received many awards and co-authored two books.

Tiokasin Ghosthorse is a musician, writer, educator. He is an internationally-syndicated host, executive producer and founder of the 26-year-old “First Voices Radio,” heard on 77 public, community and commercial radio stations in the U.S. and Canada. Photo by Ivan March.

Joanne Shenandoah , PhD, is one of “America’s most celebrated and critically acclaimed Native American musicians of her time” (Associated Press). She is a Grammy Award winner with 3 nominations and over 40 music awards, including 14 Native American Music awards – a Hall of Fame Inductee. Her music ranges from solo to full symphony and 22 recordings.

Shawna Bluestar Newcomb (Shawnee, Lenape, Azteca) is a spiritual guide and mentor for women, supporting them to share their unique gifts and voices. Shawna is working with her father Steven T. Newcomb to challenge The Doctrine of Discovery, and dedicated to bring about healing for humanity, Mother Earth, and future generations by sharing The Reverence Code based on ancient and Indigenous wisdom.

Buffy Sainte-Marie is an internationally renowned recording artist, activist, educator, visual artist, and winner of countless awards. In 2017 she released Medicine Songs, a career retrospective of Sainte-Marie’s song collection spanning nearly 50 years. Medicine Songs features new recordings of Sainte-Marie’s songs about the environment, alternative conflict resolution, Indigenous realities, greed, and racketeering. Part rhythmic healing, part trumpeting wakeup call, Medicine Songs is the soundtrack for the resistance.

Unci Rita Long Visitor Holy Dance is an Oglala Sioux who lives on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. She is a Lakota keeper of the traditional ways, great grandmother, Native American Church elder, and beadworker descended from Long Visitor and members of the Crazy Horse Band, named for the great warrior, Crazy Horse.

Steven Newcomb (Shawnee, Lenape) is the co-founder and co-director of the Indigenous Law Institute, along with Birgil Kills Straight who is an Oglala Lakota headman and ceremonial person. Steve Newcomb is author of “Pagans in the Promised Land: Decoding the Doctrine of Christian Discovery” and co-producer of the documentary film, “The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code” directed by Sheldon Wolfchild (Dakota). Newcomb is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the Doctrine of Discovery based on the 40 years he has spent investigating and writing about these issues. Photo by William P. Laronal

Leah Shenandoah is an Oneida Iroquois Wolf Clan award-winning singer-songwriter, jeweler and multi-media artist. She considers herself a radical compassionist in a world filled with suffering.

Nathan Blindman  is a commercial artist and a producer known for “CowJews and Indians” (2013).

Reverend Eila Paul is a Grandmother and healer who has a spiritual and physical connection to her people, the Maori of Aotearoa New Zealand, and to her culture. Eila works with the elderly, and children, to weave deep and sacred connection to the earth and all beings. She travels through North America and Europe offering sacred seeds of knowledge and healing.

Lyla June is poet, musician, educator, anthropologist, activist and community servant of Diné (Navajo), Tsétsêhéstâhese (Cheyenne) and European lineages. She holds a degree in Environmental Anthropology with honors from Stanford University as well as a degree in American Indian Education with distinction from the University of New Mexico.

Throughout the day, these powerful leaders will help open a deeper understanding within you about the many challenges Indigenous nations and peoples face, and how we can work together toward a brighter future for humanity, all living things, and Mother Earth.

At the Shift Network, we are deeply committed to our Indigenous brothers and sisters and see healing our society’s relationship with Indigenous Peoples, and supporting their upliftment, as essential for the larger healing of our world. That is why we dedicate this event to hearing more of their voices of wisdom, which carry important medicine for our time.

Please join us!

HONOR NATIVE LAND:  A GUIDE AND CALL TO ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Nov 17 @ 1:56 pm – 2:56 pm

 HONOR NATIVE LAND:
A GUIDE AND CALL TO ACKNOWLEDGMENT

IN COUNTRIES SUCH AS NEW ZEALAND, AUSTRALIA, CANADA, AND AMONG TRIBAL NATIONS IN THE U.S., it is commonplace, even policy, to open events and gatherings by acknowledging the traditional Indigenous inhabitants of that land. While some individuals and cultural and educational institutions in the United States have adopted this custom, the vast majority have not. Together, we can spark a movement to change that.

We call on all individuals and organizations to open public events and gatherings with acknowledgment of the traditional Native inhabitants of the land.

Acknowledgment is a simple, powerful way of showing respect and a step toward correcting the stories and practices that erase Indigenous people’s history and culture and toward inviting and honoring the truth. Imagine this practice widely adopted: imagine cultural venues, classrooms, conference settings, places of worship, sports stadiums, and town halls, acknowledging traditional lands. Millions would be exposed—many for the first time—to the names of the traditional Indigenous inhabitants of the lands they are on, inspiring them to ongoing awareness and action.

For more than five hundred years, Native communities across the Americas have demonstrated resilience and resistance in the face of violent efforts to separate them from their land, culture, and each other. They remain at the forefront of movements to protect Mother Earth and the life it sustains. Today, corporate greed and federal policy push agendas to extract wealth from the earth, degrading sacred land in blatant disregard of treaty rights. Acknowledgment is a critical public intervention, a necessary step toward honoring Native communities and enacting the much larger project of decolonization and reconciliation. Join us in adopting, calling for, and spreading this practice.

Download the Guide: Created in partnership with Native allies and organizations, the Guide offers context about the practice of acknowledgment, gives step-by-step instructions for how to begin wherever you are, and provides tips for moving beyond acknowledgment into action.

WHY INTRODUCE THE PRACTICE OF LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT?

  • Offer recognition and respect.
  • Counter the “doctrine of discovery” with the true story of the people who were already here.
  • Create a broader public awareness of the history that has led to this moment.
  • Begin to repair relationships with Native communities and with the land.
  • Support larger truth-telling and reconciliation efforts.
  • Remind people that colonization an ongoing process, with Native lands still occupied due to deceptive and broken treaties.
  • Take a cue from Indigenous protocol, opening up space with reverence and respect.
  • Inspire ongoing action and relationship.

Acknowledgment by itself is a small gesture. It becomes meaningful when coupled with authentic relationship and informed action. But this beginning can be an opening to greater public consciousness of Native sovereignty and cultural rights, a step toward equitable relationship and reconciliation.

Imagine going to a local coffee shop, music venue, grocery store, or town hall, and finding a sign on the wall acknowledging traditional lands. Sound far-fetched? It doesn’t have to be! As part of this campaign to #HonorNativeLand, we partnered with Native artists to create downloadable signs that you can print, customize, and post in your community.

As a step toward honoring the truth and achieving healing and reconciliation, our organization commits to open all public events and gatherings with a statement acknowledging the traditional Native lands on which we stand. Such statements become truly meaningful when coupled with authentic relationships and sustained commitment. We therefore commit to move beyond words into programs and actions that fully embody a commitment to Indigenous rights and cultural equity.

CAMP KINDNESS DAY – JULY 23, 2019 @ Your neghborhood
Jul 23 all-day

Camp Kindness Day logo

Camp Kindness Day — July 23, 2019

On July 23, the camp community will participate in Camp Kindness Day – an event highlighting the practice of intentional kindness that happens every day at American camps. This is an opportunity to raise awareness of the the great work that camps are doing to teach kindness in engaging, simple, repeatable, and high impact ways that live on in the daily lives of campers and staff members when they return home.

Focusing on our youth and young adults, Camp Kindness Day will help showcase the commitment of the camp community to fostering the core values of kindness, compassion, generosity and care, and integrating those values more fully into every aspect of our society. These values are already part of the fabric of the camp experience. We share the mission for our youth to be nurtured, taught, supported, and inspired to grow into our new generation of kind, compassionate, socially-minded, community-oriented citizens.

Camp Kindness Day will allow camps to incorporate into their July 23 programming fun theme-based activities and cooperative games, cool projects, and memorable moments which will celebrate the value and impact of kindness.

How your camp can participate:

  1. Schedule Camp Kindness Day into your programming on July 23.
  2. Help spread the word in a unified social media campaign by tagging #CampKindnessDay into your social media and other communications.
  3. Share your plans so that ACA can support you through localized public relations efforts.

To support your camp’s involvement in Camp Kindness Day, ACA has produced an electronic #CampKindnessDay Backpack, complete with programming ideas and activities, FAQs, social media tips, and other information on how your camp can celebrate Camp Kindness Day.

Be part of the nation-wide evolution! Plan now to add #CampKindnessDay to your camp’s programming on July 23.

Living in Co-creative Partnership with Nature: A Path to Wholeness

Gardens at Sweetwater

Join ONE vision council members Pam Montgomery, Jen Frey, and Lauren Valle for this dynamic weekend of coming home to our first and true Mother as we heal our relationship with her.

Connecting with Sweetwater Creek

Connecting with Sweetwater Creek

At this time in our evolution we have the privilege of being present here on Earth as she is in rapid transformation. As the Earth shifts, we are asked to adapt and, more importantly, to evolve into the Earth Stewards we are meant to be, taking up our rightful place as part of Nature. When we accept our role as co-creative partners with Nature, a new world emerges where all life can thrive. We continuously have access to support and guidance from Nature and our allies and realize that we are never alone. We move into the flow, working with Nature. Often overwhelming tasks become easy or perceived impossibilities become possible.

The Center at Sweetwater Sanctuary

The Center at Sweetwater Sanctuary

During this weekend we will engage in the process of becoming co-creative partners with Earth as we delve deeply into the ways to create good partnership:

  • Healing separation

  • Effective communication

  • Self-love

  • Trust

  • Joyful encounter

From within co-creative partnership we rise to walk in balance, coming home to ourselves and our Mother Earth, while we experience the interconnected web of life.

About Sweetwater Sanctuary

Sweetwater Sanctuary, our venue for this weekend, sits at the base of Marble Mountain and is surrounded by 10,000 acres of conserved land. Heart Spring, just outside our back door, brings forth from the Earth “wild water” which nourishes all your cells as you drink the most delicious water you can imagine. The lifeblood of the land is the mountain stream that flows centrally through the Sanctuary. It is this life-giving water that we listen to as we settle into our hearts and go into depth perception. The gardens are full of medicinal herbs, beautiful flowers and nourishing food. Wander amongst the wild plants and forest full of mixed hardwoods and evergreens while being touched by the embrace of nature. This land has received many ceremonies over the years and prayers are made on a regular basis. Your experience here goes beyond information exchange touching into your heart, soul and spirit for core integration, assimilation, and connection with yourself and nature. The Nature Beings of Sweetwater Sanctuary know how to live in community and want to welcome us back into co-creative partnership so that we all may thrive. As you are held in the nurturing fold of Sweetwater Sanctuary transformation is not only possible but probable.

You will:

  • Have restorative time immersed in the vibrant nature of Sweetwater Sanctuary

  • Connect deeply with your Nature Ally

  • Uncover the roots of separation hindering a deeper relationship with Earth

  • Gather in community around a Fire circle

  • Develop a personal path for moving forward in co-creative partnership with Nature

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE STUDIED WITH PAM BEFORE: This is not Plant Spirit Healing or Plant Communication. This workshop focuses on co-creative partnership and it’s various aspects with an emphasis on healing our separation from nature. Pam has never taught this class before so this is not work you have done before.

A FREE Community Prayer Portal CALL ~ Listening to the Wisdom of the Earth with Jyoti ~ July 31st @ 5pm PST

Dear Community and Relatives,

We would like to invite you to our Center for Sacred Studies Prayer Portal call on July 31, 2019, 5 pm PST.

Margin will be hosting the Prayer Portal call this month with our Center for Sacred Studies Grandmother Elder Jyoti.  This will be the eighth of twelve calls that have been scheduled once a month on the last Wednesday of the month. These calls include different facilitators each time so that we can offer a diverse dialogue.

We are hoping to hold a focus of the Now!

What is happening and what can be our response?

How is this walk a prayer in motion for unity and peace?

What is the shadow that has been brought out in our collective for healing?

How can we stay fully present as we follow the guidance of prophecy that comes to guide us through these times?

Witness the many Divine channels that are intervening now to help us.

Our call this month is “Listening to the Wisdom of the Earth” – Please join us as Jyoti our Grandma Elder, Founding member of Kayumari with her husband Russell Park; one of the Founding members of the Center for Sacred Studies; Founder of the Fountain Project and Spiritual Grandma for our Global Community Village, shares with us on July 31st about her pilgrimage trip across the UK starting at the north shore and extended across the UK to the south shore, aligning and restoring the Michael and Mary lines. Along these lines, she attended the KIVA gathering and the Glastonbury Festival. She then went onto Peru, participating in meetings and ceremonies with elders of the Quechua Peoples. Her final stopping point was in Colombia in meetings and ceremony with the Mamos. She brings back messages and shares the collaborative actions that are following the direction of the Eagle/Condor Prophecy.

Jyoti writes:

‘Dear Relatives and Community,

I am traveling in a spiritual pilgrimage for almost 6 weeks which will take me across England and into Peru and Colombia. Shortly after I return, we will have our call. So much is challenging us in this turning time. Mother Earth has a clear focus on where she is taking us. Listen carefully to her messages. They may come in your dreams. In your experiences with Nature. Through your intuition and visions. Gather this as I travel, so that we can all share what we have received. And through that collaborative sharing, we will glimpse at what she is revealing.

Off on my pony!!!

Talk to you soon.’

Jyoti

We look forward to being on the call together!

Please read on to see how to join us!!

See you there!!!

With blessings of love and peace,

Jyoti, Darlene and the Staff of the Center for Sacred Studies

Our Weekly Coherence Call is for Mentoring Stewards of GOOD of the WHOLE. We invite you to join our community and open to your infinite, creative potential each Wednesday. We intentionally gather to build a field of coherence and conscious connection. We delight in expanding the resonance and resting in the experience of our inherent wholeness and (w)holiness, while we move into generative, co-creative, mutual support of one another. On this weekly Coherence Call we will:

  • Attune to our wholeness and (w)holiness
  • Build a field of coherence for the GOOD of the WHOLE
  • Co-Create a conscious, deep connection with each other and all aspects of life
  • Provide generative mutual aid and support
  • Experience unique co-mentoring opportunities

There are TWO STEPS to participate.  If you aren’t already, you must be a Mentoring Steward (CLICK HERE) of GOOD of the WHOLE. And then, please sign up (BELOW) to join us.  You will receive notices and Zoom information about our weekly gatherings of conscious community, connection and coherence.

What is a MENTORING STEWARD? – GOOD of the WHOLE offers a “mentorship” instead of membership.  As stewards of a Whole World View, cultivating the ethos of wholeness, and mentors for the evolution of consciousness, we collectively dwell on the evolutionary edge, ground heart-based initiatives and practices, and listen for new and emerging social forms. Old membership models don’t quite fit what we are called to bring forward. So, we’re gathering with a deeper sense of knowing and trusting the unified field to guide us. Our co-mentoring community is here to learn, teach, grow, embody, and expand together, as we evolve, and express ourselves for the greater good. Mentoring Stewards are both mentor and mentored–co-creating a co-mentoring community for the GOOD of the WHOLE. Myriad benefits include conscious synergistic connection and generative community support. You can become a Mentoring Steward with a minimum gift of $15.00 per month.

You will also be listed in the WHOLE Community Mentoring Directory with contact information and a link to your websites and projects. You may make special offers for events, education, and products to the community and participate in a variety of weekly and monthly offerings designed for our Mentoring Stewards. You will receive access to the WHOLE Community’s archive links, documents, resources, tools, private conversations and the Mentor’s Resonance Lounge. Send in your calendar events and we’ll upload and promote you and your events. Contribute news, blogs, information, coupons, special offers, classes, products and services to be shared and exchanged with other Mentors, Stewards and our greater GOOD of the WHOLE Community.

WE WANT TO CONNECT WITH YOU!

Welcome to GOOD of the WHOLE.  Basic membership and connection is FREE.  Simply sign in here and fill out your personal profile.  We can’t wait to get to know you!  The benefits of basic membership are engagement and connection.  You may comment, share materials and receive important communications, coupons, special offers, news, updates and notice for emergency response action.  Join us on our free community calls and become part of our conscious, resonant community for the GOOD of the WHOLE.

The Nature of Unity

Unity is a religious movement that began over a century ago. In the 1880’s Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, co-founders of Unity, began to work with some new ideas that they had found about life. Charles had a withered leg; Myrtle had tuberculosis. But in a short time, Myrtle was healed and Charles’ health was so much improved that other people, seeing the changes in them, were drawn to them to find out how they, too, could change.

The Fillmores had no thought of starting a new religion; they just wanted to help themselves and others who turned to them for help. In 1889 they began to publish a little magazine called Modern Thought, which a few years later they renamed Unity. In this magazine, they presented the ideas that had helped them heal themselves and find peace and strength. These ideas are simple. They are centered around two basic propositions:

One ~ God is Good.
Two ~ God is available, in fact, God is in you.

If God is good, God’s will is good. It is impossible to believe that a good God — a God who is love and intelligence — could have made you in any other way except to be healthy, happy, prosperous, loved and loving, courageous and strong. If you are not healthy and happy, it can only be because you have separated yourself from God in mind — the only place you can separate yourself from God and God’s good. You have only to reunite in mind with God, and your life is certain to be full and fulfilling. You do this best by getting still and realizing your oneness with God. Every thought, negative or positive, comes one at time to the door of your conscious mind; there you let it in or turn it away. To have a good life, you have to learn to say no to the negative thoughts which deny your oneness with god’s good and say yes to the positive thoughts which affirm your oneness with God’s good.

Perhaps this is an oversimplification of Unity teachings, but these are the essential elements.

Unity is not a proselytizing religion. We are happy to have you call yourself a Unity student and join a Unity group. But we are also happy when we can help you be a better Methodist, a better Catholic, a better whatever you are.

Unity began as an open-ended religion, and we pray it always will be. May we always be seekers after Truth rather than people who feel that they have found all the Truth and must form an exclusive little circle to preserve it.

Unity is the religion of the written word, and Unity School of Christianity is the organization that has carried that written word around the world. Unity has grown almost entirely because individuals who have been helped by its ideas have told others who need help about it. Unity has always been a warm and loving way of life, sensitive to people’s needs, God-centered but human-hearted. This is Unity.

Celebrate the 1st Annual Wakíŋyaŋ Opȟa Oškáte @ Thunder Valley Community Center and Bunkhouse
Aug 10 @ 7:00 pm

Our Story

Thunder Valley CDC was inspired and incubated

by a group of youth and young families

that were reconnecting to cultural spirituality and identity through

spiritual ceremonies.

This reconnection to spirituality was supported by the Thunder Valley spiritual circle. It was our involvement in those ceremonies that inspired us to do more for our communities and for our people. We are a grassroots community development corporation that is guided by the needs and ideas of our community.

Our values are deeply rooted in Lakota values and the continued engagement of our community in this project.

Join us as we celebrate the 1st annual Wakíŋyaŋ Opȟa Oškáte, or Thunder Valley Festival, on Saturday, August 10th!

“If we want our children to be successful, we need to create the space for them to succeed,” said Scotti Clifford, local musician and band member of Spirits Cry. “That’s what Thunder Valley is dedicated to do!”

This year’s Wakíŋyaŋ Opȟa Oškáte will launch with a FREE music concert starting at 7PM—lawn chairs welcome.  In addition, we will have food vendors and tours of the Thunder Valley CDC regenerative community development.  The celebration will take place alongside the Indigenous Film Festival at the newly opened Thunder Valley Community Center and Bunkhouse located at 672 Thathanka Iyotaka Ave, Porcupine, SD 57772—in the regenerative community development.

“We want to provide a space for creativity and what better way to do that than promote our Indigenous artists.” – DeCora Hawk, Director of Community Engagement for Thunder Valley CDC and event organizer.

Wakíŋyaŋ Opȟa Oškáte is a model for celebration and wóphila to our community through arts and culture.   As we build an ecosystem of opportunity that is intentionally disrupting the status quo we are focused on healing ourselves and our communities on the Pine Ridge Reservation.   Art is a cornerstone of healing and is deeply rooted in our cultural identity as Lakota people.  By creating these models of change we will overpower intergenerational traumas and build momentum towards equity and liberation.

For more information contact DeCora Hawk, director of community engagement, at decora@thundervalley.org  OR  Willi White, director of communications, at willi@thundervalley.org or call (605) 455-2700.

Aug 20 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Sociocracy for non-profits and associations

Tue, Aug 20, 2019 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EDT

Description

Many non-profits run themselves with traditional hierarchies. This is not only often ineffective but power-over structures also run counter the mission of equality and empowerment for everyone.

Sociocracy is an option for those non-profits that want to give both staff, board and core volunteers more voice, strengthen the connection, increase transparency and lessen micro-management. Over the past years, sociocracy has found its way into several non-profits in the United States and world-wide, and it has long turned into tried-and-tested governance system.

This short introduction introduces the basic ideas and highlights the advantages in particular for non-profits as well as the challenges. There will be opportunities for questions – see how sociocracy would apply to your unique organization.

Presenter Jerry Koch-Gonzalez has founded and been a board member of several non-profits (Institute for Community Economics, Class Action, United for a Fair Economy, National Coalition Building Institute, Institute For Peaceable Communities). Jerry has supported many organizations as a consultant for diversity, governance and communication, and he is co-author of the 2018 sociocracy handbook  –  Many Voices One Song – our Sociocracy manual.

Reconnecting Ecology, Culture, and Spirituality

Kalliopeia Foundation is responding to a need—a global challenge—to take spiritual as well as physical responsibility for our common home. Our programs and those we support engage with contemporary issues at their root, with the understanding that ecological, cultural, and spiritual renewal are interdependent.

We envision a future rooted in fundamental values, such as compassion, respect, dignity, reverence for nature, and care for each other and the Earth. Our work strives to embody the following core principles:

  • Life Is Sacred: Honoring all life as sacred; expressing reverence for one another, the Earth, and life as a whole.
  • Interconnectedness: Approaching ecology, culture, and spirituality as inextricably interdependent.
  • Innovation: Generating creative ideas and outcomes through simple, meaningful engagement with others and the Earth.
  • Service: Embracing an ethic of care—the essential and natural aspiration to respond to needs beyond our own.

Kalliopeia’s Story

In 1997, Kalliopeia was founded as an independent private foundation to help support people and organizations who are working to bring spiritual values into institutions and systems of everyday life and work. The name “Kalliopeia” means beautiful voice and refers to the first of the nine Greek muses. She is associated with heroic poetry, justice, and transforming lower qualities into higher.

Homelessness: 90-Minute Conversation with LIVING ROOM CONVERSATIONS @ online
Aug 22 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Connecting Across Divides.

Living Room Conversations are a conversational bridge across issues that divide and separate us. They provide an easy structure for engaging in friendly yet meaningful conversation with those with whom we may not agree. These conversations increase understanding, reveal common ground, and sometimes even allow us to discuss possible solutions. No fancy event or skilled facilitator is needed.

Homelessness: 90-Minute Conversation w/ Optional 30-Minute Q & A with Hosts!

Homelessness

August 22, 2019 @ 7:00 – 9:00 pm ET

4:00 – 6:00 pm PT (adjust for your time zone)

Homelessness in America is a problem that reminds us daily of our failure to be our best. How do we explain to children the presence of hungry, cold, neglected and often mentally ill men women and children on our streets in the midst of plenty? If we gather neighbors, business owners, health care workers, police, government officials, homeless people and their families in conversation might we build trust and begin to explore opportunities to do better? Conversations are admittedly only a starting point, but isn’t it time to start?

Origins

Living Room Conversations is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 as a result of a transpartisan partnership focused on revitalizing civil discourse through conversation.

Major disagreement on important issues is a fact of life, but it doesn’t have to create insurmountable divides. We hope for a world in which people who have fundamental differences of opinion and backgrounds learn to work together with respect – and even joy – to realize the vibrant future we all desire for ourselves and our families. Through applying and adapting our conversational model, we hope participants will build relationships that generate understanding and enable collaborative problem-solving.

Divides Aren’t Inevitable.

Living rooms used to be the place where people would gather to socialize and relate with each other. Inviting someone into your home was to treat them as valued and worthy of respect. But before they were called living rooms these rooms were referred to as “parlors” – a term that comes from the French and means place for speaking.

Our modern world no longer limits our place for speaking to a physical location. We live our lives in our communities and online. Our living room is wherever we find ourselves connecting with others.

Living Room Conversations can take place anywhere, which these days includes the virtual world. Video chat allows us to bring each other into our homes, with all that represents, at a scale never before imagined.

The rationale behind Living Room Conversations is to increase understanding, reveal common ground and allow us to discuss possible solutions. No fancy event or skilled facilitator is typically needed. When people of all walks of life begin to care about one another, they can begin working together to solve the problems of our time.

The Pilot

In late 2010, Joan Blades partnered with dialogue experts, Walt Roberts, Debilyn Molineaux, Amanda Kathryn Roman and Heather Tischbein, to create a structured, intimate conversation format that would empower everyday citizens to discuss important issues with friends of differing political affiliations and backgrounds. The theory was that if two friends with different points of view, each invited two friends to join a conversation, with full disclosure about the intent and structure of the conversation, they could create a safe space for a respectful and meaningful exchange of ideas, develop new relationships and perhaps find common ground. This was the Living Room Conversations pilot project.

By early 2011, the pilot revealed that the Living Room Conversations structure worked. Both the observed and independent conversations were successful. Participants found they were anxious at the outset but soon felt comfortable using the format. In fact, these early conversations fostered relationships that continue to this day.

The Project

Inspired by the success of the pilot, Amanda Kathryn Roman and Joan Blades formed a transpartisan political partnership, recruited an advisory board and launched the website to make the Living Room Conversations open-source format available to individuals and organizations around the country. Their hope was to empower participants to begin to reweave the fabric of our civil society by demonstrating that respectful conversation can enrich our lives and enable us to create better solutions to the challenges we face together.

Early participants had conversations about the role of government, money in politics, immigration, gay marriage and more. In 2013, our first high profile conversation, cohosted by Joan Blades and Mark Meckler (Tea Party Patriots), discussed crony capitalism and identified the need for criminal justice reform as an area of 100% agreement. common ground  This led to further discussion and impactful collaborative action.

Every two minutes a woman dies from complications in pregnancy or childbirth, and millions around the world are denied the choice of if and when they want to have children.

UNFPA Supplies supports over 20 million women and girls worldwide with family planning services, contraception, and vital maternal medicines, and since 2007 they have saved over 1.1 millions lives.

Without additional support, their vital work — and the safety of over 20 million women and girls — will be at risk. Call on world leaders to step up for women and girls by pledging new funds this year.

Thank you so much,

Nicole Sangsuree Barrett
June 29, 1980 ~ July 17, 2014

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Nicole Sangsuree Barrett. She was hit by a car when she attempted to cross the Chiang Mai superhighway in Thailand on foot. It was determined that Nicole died instantly from the collision. She had friends with her who witnessed the accident and were grieving heavily by the time the emergency services arrived. After rescue teams helped calm Nicole’s friends, the women asked everyone to sing the Thai song “Deuan Pen” as it was her favorite song. Nicole will be missed at Women of Wisdom. She was a dynamic performer and an amazing activist and woman. Here is a video she finished just before her death. She performed this on our stage for the 2014 Women of Wisdom conference to the delight of many. It is an amazing tribute of her talent, beauty, and passion. We will miss you Nicole but know that your light continues to shine and your journey continues.

FOR SAMA is both an intimate and epic journey into the female experience of war. A love letter from a young mother to her daughter, the film tells the story of Waad al-Kateab’s life through five years of the uprising in Aleppo, Syria as she falls in love, gets married and gives birth to Sama, all while cataclysmic conflict rises around her.

Her camera captures incredible stories of loss, laughter and survival as Waad wrestles with an impossible choice– whether or not to flee the city to protect her daughter’s life, when leaving means abandoning the struggle for freedom for which she has already sacrificed so much.

The film is the first feature documentary by Emmy award-winning filmmakers, Waad al-Kateab and Edward Watts.

Following the screening, join us for a post-show discussion with

Sana Mustafa
founding member of The Network For Refugee Voices, a refugees led coalition working to increase refugees engagement with international community to pursue inclusive, sustainable, and effective refugee and immigration policy
and

Dr. Kathryn Libal
Associate Professor of Social Work and Human Rights at the University of Connecticut and Director of the Human Rights Institute.

Please note: this film contains deeply distressing scenes of violence and trauma.  Attendees are encouraged to prepare themselves emotionally for the experience.  Should anyone experience the film as traumatizing, we will work to support them and help direct them to counseling resources.

What Is World Day of Prayer?

Held annually on the second Thursday in September, World Day of Prayer unites Unity and draws in New Thought partner communities for a 24-hour period of prayer practice. In prayer, we dissolve our personal borders as we realize God within us, around us—an active source of life, love, and wisdom

Daily Word A Note from the Editor
Prayer is an excellent place to start no matter what you want to be, accomplish, or overcome. Teresa Burton

Prayer…an excellent  place to start…accomplish…overcome…

On September 12 Unity will celebrate World Day of Prayer where, for 24 hours, people at Unity Village and beyond will join together to celebrate the gift, power, and life-changing potential of affirmative prayer.World Day of Prayer is a special event for the entire Unity movement and also for me as I remember the ways that prayer helped me grow through one of my bleakest periods. At the nadir of my life—chronically ill and marginally employed and with a host of other problems—my prospects for improving my circumstances looked dim. The worst part was that I felt powerless.

I didn’t know what I was going to do to help myself. Maybe you’ve been there—no ideas, no options, nowhere to turn. I realized I had exhausted every option except for one. I knew in my heart it was time to surrender.

Like many unaccustomed to prayer, I came to it feeling desperate. Even though I felt exhausted, worried, scared, and humbled, prayer gave me comfort and hope and helped me feel less alone.

Over the next few months, I learned how to use affirmations, which helped me feel empowered. I then started to give thanks daily for blessings great and small and practiced forgiveness of myself and others along the way. Through it all I prayed.

That was almost 20 years ago. Looking back, what felt like the end turned out to be the best beginning I could have hoped for.

I’m sure discovering the power of prayer and learning how to use affirmations were the driving forces that led me to change my life. I didn’t stop there, of course. I took definite and concrete steps in the direction of my goals. I worked hard and dreamed big.

None of those worldly efforts would have gotten me far had it not been for the work I undertook to change my thinking, still my mind, and open my heart through prayer.

Of course, you don’t have to wait until your back is against the wall to pray (in fact, I recommend that you don’t!). But I do want you to know that prayer is an excellent place to start no matter what you want to be, accomplish, or overcome.

Twenty years ago, I changed my life through prayer. I discovered the power of thought and discovered that my thinking creates my experience of the world. I took regular time in the Silence and committed to a deep process of self-discovery, but I didn’t have to do it alone.

Being able to reach out to Silent Unity® for prayer support over the years has been a treasured part of my spiritual path. Throughout its 129-year history, Silent Unity has touched the hearts of people all over the world who have reached out for prayer for themselves and others.

I’ll be among the thousands of people in prayerful participation on World Day of Prayer on September 12, and I welcome you to join me as we share in knowing this affirmation: I celebrate the vast possibilities for my life.

The presence of God within you is infinite. Your potential is truly unlimited. Give yourself the gift of prayer.

Blessings,

Rev. Teresa Burton

Guiding Prayer

Breathing in to prayer, I am in awe of the unbound spirit, the infinite presence within and around me. God is vitality in my breath, beauty in the natural world, strength in my determination, and compassion in my acts of service. I recognize God in the spaciousness of the universe as well as in my limitless dreams.

Let me set my sight beyond where I have seen before, into the vast reality of divine power and presence. Let me draw upon divine power and presence in order to fulfill my great potential.

In the harmony of prayer, my heart beats to the rhythm of God. The pulse of infinite life moves me, nourishes me, and empowers me to give life to my dreams.

The Earthling Movie
Sep 15 – Nov 15 all-day

OJAI, Calif — Planet Earth is not a star but it rises to outright star status in one of the most fascinating film documentaries of 2019.

In “The Earthing Movie,” produced by award-winning filmmakers Josh and Rebecca Tickell, the curtain rises to demonstrate − to very unsuspecting audiences – that our planet packs surprisingly huge healing properties.

The film relates the discovery of the healing power of the planet’s electrically charged surface, a natural, perpetual energy shown in multiple studies over the last 20 years to significantly reduce inflammation, pain, and stress, produce deeper sleep, more energy, and improve circulation.

Earthing, also known as grounding, refers to accessing these major health benefits by walking outdoors on natural surfaces or using commercially available grounding products indoors while you sit or sleep.

In short, Earthing is a simple lifestyle addition that connects you to the Earth’s healing touch.  You get the benefits without effort or dieting.

The Earthing movie debuted at the Sedona International Film Festival earlier this year to a packed audience of 750 people.  It subsequently won the Audience Award at the Dances With Films Festival at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood in June.

The movie features actresses Amy Smart and Mariel Hemingway, integrative medicine pioneer Deepak Chopra, and an array of physicians, who, along with Earthing pioneer Clint Ober, describe the unique science and benefits of Earthing.

September showings include Palm Springs, London (The Health Optimisation Summit), Los Angeles, and Santa Monica, and at the Yoga’s Research Society’s annual convention on November 16 in Philadelphia.

For showtimes, screening locations, and a short trailer of the film, see www.EarthingMovie.com

The film is currently doing a festival circuit after which it will be available on major digital platforms both in the U.S. and internationally.

You can read a review of the film here: http://crimsonkimono.com/2019/environmental-filmmakers-earthing-wins-top-doc-award/

Previous films by Josh and Rebecca Tickell’s Big Picture Ranch Production Company, based in Ojai, California, have won multiple awards for social and environmental documentaries, including awards at Sundance, Seattle, Gaia, and Sustainable Planet film festivals.

For more information about Earthing, refer to the Earthing book and the Earthing Institute website

Whether you practice Earthing outdoors or indoors, make sure you do it routinely.  Stay connected to the Earth’s healing power!  Indoor grounding products developed by Earthing pioneer Clint Ober are available at earthing.com and  www.groundtherapy.com

World Peace Card Meditations
Wednesday, September 18, 7:30pm

(based on local time in your time zone)

International Center for Reiki Training <reiki@reiki.org

You are invited to take part in the next World Peace Card Meditation. Please mark your calendar and forward this email to all your friends.

Thanks for Your Help!

Because so many of you forwarded this email to your friends, there have been almost 396,800 downloads of the World Peace Cards. This is a tremendous increase in the number of people using the cards. So far the total number of World Peace Card sets downloaded, received from our free offer and from our magazine has been nearly 440,000! I hope you have been using your peace cards as their use brings blessings to the world as well as to you.

The next World Peace Card group meditation have been scheduled for Wednesday, September 18 at 7:30pm. This is local time in your time zone. This method has been chosen because of the special effect it produces. As people meditate in each successive time zone the energy builds like a wave which gets stronger and stronger as it circles the planet. Because of the higher dimensional nature of consciousness, the energy of peace will be transmitted for a full 24 hours and continue long after this.

Reports from those who took part in the previous meditations indicate many had powerful spiritual experiences. As they united with those taking part in the meditation a feeling of peace developed within that stayed with each for a long time. Some saw beautiful golden light surrounding the planet and others felt that a web of fear was dissipating and being replaced with trust in others and for our future. All those who have received the cards are being asked to meditate on world peace at this time. By taking part in this group meditation, you’ll be joining thousands of people who will be using the cards to bring peace to the world. By joining together, the affect we have will be greatly multiplied. This powerful experience and will help shift the vibration of our wonderful planet into a higher state of consciousness. As you use the cards to meditate on world peace, you will be a beacon through which peace will spread around the planet which will have a positive uplifting effect on all people. Please set aside this time to meditate with the cards. The suggested meditation period is 15 minutes, but of course you can meditate longer if you’d like to. The technique I’d like you to use is based on allowing yourself to be a beacon of peace. The World Peace Cards hold the vibration of the World Peace Grids which have been placed at spiritually significant locations and are relay stations for higher consciousness. By simply opening to their energy, you’ll become a channel for their love and peace which will flow through you to all the people on Earth. To do this, hold the cards in your hands or place them in front of you. Then simply meditate on peace. We are entering a new era. Our entire planet including all the people and living things are moving into a place where it will be much easier to solve our problems and to create peace, prosperity and happiness for everyone. The World Peace Card meditation will quicken this process, making it easier for people to experience this new quality of higher consciousness and will provide great benefit for all people. Since this benefit will be flowing through you out to everyone on the planet, you’ll be blessed by this experience as well. Many have received the cards in the mail or in the Reiki News Magazine while others have downloaded them from our web site. If you would like additional copies of the cards, please download them using this link and print as many copies as you can use. Please feel free to give them to your friends. Also, forward this email to anyone you feel would like to take part in the meditation.

Note: This is a larger file and it may take several
minutes for it to open, so please be patient.

When printing the cards from this file, print page 2 first, then place this page in your printer and print the image of the peace grids on the back.

New Reiki Grid – Send Reiki to Others

We also have a new image of the World Peace Crystal Grid that can be used for a Reiki Grid. By using it for your Reiki Grid you’ll be tapping into the energy of all the peace grids and this will add to the energy that is sent to all those whose names or photos you place in the grid making the Reiki more effective and adding wonderful feelings of peace and harmony. And each time you charge your grid, you’ll be charging the peace grids for world peace! With this system you’ll use 12 crystals around the outside – placing 1 crystal over each of the crystals in the photo plus 1 crystal in the center and 1 as your master crystal for a total of 14 crystals. The additional crystals will also hold and transmit more energy. Also, remember you can place your goals into the grid as well. I suggest printing it on glossy photo paper if you have it or you could get some at your office supply store. You’ll need to trim the one side of the grid after it’s printed. https://www.reiki.org/Download/NPGridLetterSizeRGB.pdf

World Peace Card Download
Additional World Peace Cards – https://www.reiki.org/WPCM.html

Farm Aid 2019
Sep 21 all-day

There’s only three weeks until Farm Aid 2019! We’re getting excited and

we hope you are too.

Even if you won’t be joining us in person in Wisconsin,

here are a couple of ways to join the Farm Aid fun

from wherever you are:

Stand with family farmers today! The people who grow our food deserve to make a fair living. But that’s out of reach for the livestock and poultry farmers who work in an industry where the power of giant corporations leaves them trapped in a rigged marketplace, vulnerable to abusive business practices.

Let the USDA know you want strong safeguards to give farmers a fighting chance against corporate power.

Showing your support is easy with our online petition that will be delivered to the USDA.

Connections between peace, climate protection, SDGs and disarmament

UN Charter (Article 26) recognises the connection between disarmament and sustainable development. Article 26 requires the UN to facilitate disarmament ‘in order to promote the establishment and maintenance of international peace and security with the least diversion for armaments of the world’s human and economic resources.’

More recently the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes that there can be no sustainable development without peace, and no peace without sustainable development. In addition, Securing our Common Future: An Agenda for Disarmament, the disarmament agenda released in 2018 by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, outlines the links between disarmament and many of the SDGs.

Key events and actions:

Sep 21: International Day for Peace

  • UN event: International Day of Peace Student Observance, United Nations, 20 September 2019. Watch it on webtv.un.org
  • Peace One Day event in London: with civil society leaders and celebrities that will be live-streamed globally.
  • List your event at Peace One Day, a global platform to share, find out about or join actions for Peace Day.

For further information see the UN website on International Day for Peace. Share your ideas and activities through #PeaceDay and #ClimateAction.

 Sep 23: UN Climate Summit

Action: Call on your government to commit in New York to deeper reductions in carbon emissions, a faster transition from fossil fuels to renewable energies, and reductions in military budgets in order to fund climate protection.

Sep 24-25: Summit on Sustainable Development

Action: Call on your government to highlight at the SDG Summit the importance of peace and demilitarisation in achieving the SDGs, and support the proposal of Kazakhstan that all countries redirect 1% of their military budget to the SDGs.

Sep 26: International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons

Actions:
a) Encourage your Prime Minister/President to attend the Sep 26 UN High-Level Meeting on Nuclear Disarmament and call on all States to never launch a nuclear war, and to negotiate for the abolition and elimination of nuclear weapons;

Climate Action Summit 2019

The Secretary-General will convene a Climate Action Summit in September 2019 to bring climate action to the top of the international agenda. Mr. Luis Alfonso de Alba, a former Mexican diplomat, will be his Special Envoy to lead its preparations.

The Summit will focus on the heart of the problem – the sectors that create the most emissions and the areas where building resilience could make the biggest difference – as well as provide leaders and partners the opportunity to demonstrate real climate action and showcase their ambition.

MOMM – Moments of Mass Mindfulness @ Social Media
Sep 21 all-day

21919.png

The Global Consciousness Project is an international, multidisciplinary collaboration of scientists and engineers, who collect data continuously from a global network of physical random number generators located in up to 70 host  sites around the world at any given time.
.
The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution 36/37, the General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”

Join us to create a wave of peace

as you hold your Moments of Mass Mindfulness

at midday across the world in your local time zones

for International Peace Day.

Register for World Peace Day.

.MOMM is thrilled to be part of the Peace Coalition network of Peace One Day and a global partner of Pace e Bene’s Campaign

Moments of Mass Mindfulness (MOMM) is a meditation movement for everyone. We are raising awareness of, and co-creating in community, a model that fully embraces the true definition of health as both an Art and a Science. At the heart of it all, we’re focused on building community, connection, collaboration and to enhance personal wellbeing.

Imagine if mindfulness and meditation was a regular part of daily life in society. If every person was able to slow down, and connect with their calmer, essential self and find balance, it’s likely feelings of negative self-talk and aggression would disappear. Mindfulness is a strategy for directing yourself away from these self-incriminating thoughts and limiting beliefs. It’s a meditative practice of paying attention to your body, mind, and surroundings in a non-judgmental manner.

Mindfulness can be thought of as a form of self-care. Science has proven (1) that it’s a valuable antidote to the fast pace of our now technology-driven culture, and mind body techniques, when used effectively, can influence our brain activity and lead to a reduction in stress, mood and anxiety.

Mindfulness and meditation is recommended as a treatment for people with mental ill-health – (1) It is recommended by NICE as a preventative practice for people with experience of recurrent depression (2)), as well as those who want to improve their mental health and wellbeing (3). There are numerous studies showing compelling support for Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), which helps people to cope with stress, and for Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), which is designed to help people with recurring depression. There has become little doubt that its use is an effective intervention and prevention technique.

The importance of mental health both to human wellbeing and the prosperity of the country has been well established in a number of recent reports (including the report of the Wellbeing Economics APPG published last year), and it has prompted the government’s initiative to set up the What Works Centre for Wellbeing in 2015, hosted by Public Health England (4).

Conversations and collaborations are springing up through a new paradigm of self care and lifestyle medicine, which combine objective knowledge and subjective experiential practices. These practices, towards balance and coherence, energise and rejuvenate both mind and body. Meditation, mindfulness, indeed all contemplative practices serve to calm the nervous system, activating the body’s own natural healing system, our ‘inner pharmacy’ aided by health-improving behaviours of better nutrition, exercise, stress reduction and a good night’s sleep. This combination of the health sciences from both modern day and traditional care, will help fulfil the potential future of vibrant health and well-being.

Let’s come together with open minds, open hearts and pure intention.

More than 200 top entertainment industry leaders are expected to attend the event, which will be held Sep. 26 at the Holmby Hills home of CCFP board advisor and noted entertainment attorney Gary Stiffelman, whose clientele has included Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Yo-Yo Ma.”

*************************************************************************************************

On Thursday, September 26Creative Community For Peace (CCFP) will hold its second annual “Celebrating Ambassadors Of Peace” (AOP) event at the Holmby Hills home of noted entertainment attorney and CCFP Advisory Board member, Gary Stiffelman, Esq. (whose clients have included Justin Timberlake, Eminem, Yo-Yo Ma, Trent Reznor, Maroon 5).

In 2018, CCFP honored Scooter Braun, Geffen Records President Neil Jacobson and Warner Music Group executive Aton Ben-Horin. This year’s honorees are: Aaron Bay-Schuck (CEO/Co-Chairman Warner Records); Jacqueline Saturn (President, Caroline Music/CMG); Troy Carter (Founder of Q&A and Atom Factory); Walter Kolm (former President of Universal Music Latino and now manages Maluma, Carlos Vives, and Wisin amongst others); and special artist honoree, Ziggy Marley (GRAMMY Award-winning artist).

The honorees were chosen for their commitment to championing artistic freedom and advancing the idea that music and the arts are a powerful force for building cultural bridges. Through their work and influence, they have advanced coexistence to create a better future for all.

As stated by CCFP Co-Founder David Renzer, and Director Ari Ingel, “Creative Community for Peace was founded by entertainment industry executives on the principal that music and the arts can be a unifying force to bring people of different backgrounds together. We also believe that a cultural boycott of Israel does not further the prospects for peace.”

The honorees shared their excitement to be recognized as Ambassadors of Peace and the importance of CCFP’s work, stating the following:

Aaron Bay-Schuck: “I am honored to be recognized as an ‘Ambassador of Peace’ by Creative Community for Peace and humbled to be receiving it alongside such accomplished industry executives and friends. The cultural boycott movement is detrimental to prospects for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, as well as to artistic freedom around the world, and I will continue to stand with my friends and colleagues who are dedicated to using music and the arts to bring people together.”

Jacqueline Saturn: “I’m honored to receive the Ambassadors of Peace award from Creative Community for Peace. Music and all creative art forms have the unique ability to pierce through cultural barriers, reshape perspectives, and create common ground. CCFP bridges divergent communities, enabling them to find a common voice. Now more than ever, the creative community must take a courageous stance against those that seek to divide rather than unite. I am proud to be in a position to empower artists from many different backgrounds to help us get to “higher ground.”

Walter Kolm: “It’s an honor for me to receive an Ambassadors of Peace award this year.  I’ve always been a firm believer in the power of music to bring people together, which is why I support CCFP and their mission. The fact that so many incredible Latin artists I’ve worked with over the years, like Maluma, Carlos Vives and Wisin, have performed in Israel is a testament to this. Our artists are always embraced with enthusiasm and love in such a way that truly shows that music crosses all cultural and national boundaries to unite us.”

Troy Carter: “There is no better way to bring people of different backgrounds together than through the arts. This is why I share the vision of Creative Community for Peace and am proud to receive their Ambassador of Peace award.”

Ziggy Marley: “It is an honor to be one of CCFP’s 2019 Ambassadors of Peace. We all should use our voices, music, and art in the struggle for justice, love, and peace for all human beings of all races, religions, and ethnicities. I am thankful to be a part of this year’s ceremony. One Love”

More than two-hundred top entertainment industry leaders are expected to attend the event, which will feature special musical performances.  Sponsors include Sony/ATV, EA Music, BMI, Epic Records, Atlantic Records and Warner Records among many others. Variety, which recently included CCFP honoree Jacqueline Saturn on their “Women’s Impact Report,” is the event’s official media sponsor.

A limited number of tickets for this exclusive event are available for purchase at the following site, along with sponsorship opportunities: https://www.creativecommunityforpeace.com/gala/honorees/
