The vigil for international peace is a transformational grassroots effort dedicated to promoting peace through participation in music, art, poetry, dance and prayer. Our vision is to heal and bridge our lives and communities, to achieve alignment, and recognize the oneness in all.
The Vigil for International Peace and Ecology was inspired by the United Nations’ Resolution 55/282 designating September 21st of each year as an “International Day of Peace”. a full day dedicated to global ceasefire and non- violence. The original International resolution was passed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981 in resolution 36/67.

Their newest show, “The Lyin’Kings,” will find all the laughs amidst the current buffoonery in our nation’s capital. This is the group that puts the “MOCK” in Democracy! Originally made up of congressional staffers, the company is now an ensemble of finely-tuned musical theater professionals from around the country. They were nominated for the Drama Desk Awards in 2007 for “Outstanding Lyrics.”
“The Lyin’ Kings” draws its humor from today’s headlines and twitter feeds. It includes the latest songs about the Democratic primary candidates (“76 Unknowns”) and the newest late-night thoughts from President Trump (“Tweet It”). No one knows whom 2020 will bring to the forefront, but whether it’s Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Beto O’Rourke, the Capitol Steps will rhyme it. This new show, in formation until it opens, may serve up such delicacies as Donald Trump singing a rock song, Bernie Sanders singing a show tune or Vladimir Putin dancing shirtless. The Reverend Dr. Liz Theoharis is Co-Chair with the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival which has organized the largest and most expansive wave of nonviolent civil disobedience in US history. She is the Director of the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice at Union Theological Seminary and is a Founder and Coordinator of the Poverty Initiative.
Rev. Janelle Bruce, Esq. is a National Organizer with Repairers of the Breach and the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. She is also the Founder and Pastor of the Church Without Walls, Global Reach. Her life, ministry and work is guided by Micah 6:8, “He has told you O’ mortal what is good and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with the Lord”.
Njimie Dzurinko is the founder and co-coordinator at Put People First and the Pennsylvania Poor People’s Campaign. Njimie studied Urban Studies at Temple University and English Literature/Poetry at University of Pennsylvania.
